MAJAJACOBI
Maja Jacobi (b.1992) is a Dutch artist based in Leiden with a background in art therapy. Rooted in abstract expressionism, her paintings explore overlapping themes of human emotions, sensory perception and social commentary. Her, often large, paintings form abstract landscapes or spaces and invite the viewer to pause daily life and ‘step into’ the painting. Maja intuitively translates tangible experience into colour and shape. Created by embracing the unpredictable and having an eye for detail. In her works soft layered washes, bold brushstrokes and vivd colours alternate, creating movement and drama. Her style? A compromise between action- and colourfield painting with a hint of Romanticism.
